Hogar Para Los Ninos

One of the most memorable moments of my life occured when I volunteered my services as a chiropractor in Mexico. If you ever have felt the need to give back to others less fortunate than you, I highly recommend volunteering your time at the orphanage in Colonio Guerrero. You will never be the same.

I recall one particular trip where I went with a group of chiropractors. We flew there in single engine planes and landed on a dirt air strip. When we arrived at the orphanage, we were given their best housing and we were treated as honored guests. The work was hard, but very rewarding. We would go out to the work camps where the living conditions were unthinkable. Cardboard homes with dirt floors, kids playing with rusty toys, and no electricity or running water.

Along with providing much needed food and blankets, we would work twelve hour days adjusting hundreds and hundreds of migrant workers. We would have to have our English translated to Spanish and from Spanish to Triki, which is a dialect of the Xoacan indians.
The most rewarding part of the trip was the outreach ministry. Where ever the chiropractors would set up their portable adjusting tables, the evangelists would preach the word of God. We saw many people give their lives to God. Interestingly enough, some of the indians already had Book of Mormon bibles with them. The Morman’s had been to the camps a week before we arrived.

I haven’t been back to Baja now for a few years. But I plan to go back soon. What I brought back from all those trips were life changing experiences I will always remember. As we have in the past, again this year for Thanksgiving our office plans to do a fundraiser for the children of the orphanage. For whatever donation people contribute (clothes, canned food, etc.) they will receive their adjustment at no charge on that day!
