The Devil In The Dark

The Devil In The Dark•September 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment (Edit)
We get up, drive through god-forsaken traffic, work our mundane jobs, pay our bills, watch a little TV and go to bed. The next day we do basically the same thing….and the next….and the next. Now with the internet taking up our free time, we as a society have become what I call “cogs”. Part of a machine. The cumbersome machine that drives our faltering economy.
I love the movie “The Matrix” because in some ways its a parody of our own apathetic society. When Morpheous gives Neo the red pill, everything changes and Neo is able to “see” how things really are. There are very few out there like Neo. Those that think “out of the box” are not always accepted. Lincoln, Kennedy, Lennon, etc. Ask yourself a question. Are you a thinker that wants to make a change to society? Or are you a cog?
There is a devil in the darkness of our society. He is very rich and powerful and is involved in each of our lives. In many cases, he will decide if you live or die or how much time you have left. He is so powerful, that he was able to shut down the workers comp system in California and leave thousands of injured workers without the benefit of proper healthcare. He has so much influence that our current president will most likely fail with healthcare reform as so many other presidents before him. I’m talking about a true master of disguise. A wolf in sheeps clothing if you will. ”He” is the health insurance companies.
The word insurance seems so benign. However, the health insurance companies in America are some of the strongest lobbiests in the nation.
America. We can make a difference. We don’t have to be in the dark anymore when it comes to healthcare reform. We are all afraid the the death squads and the limitations put on us by the goverment. All of these are real concerns. However, stop and think. If you ever lost your benefits and then became ill, who would take care of you? Most of us are one major illness away from bankruptcy.
President Obama is on the right track. He may not have all the answers, but I believe he is trying to do something good for our nation. Imagine a society, where we had access to the finest physicians in the world. Imagine how much better our quality of life would be. I’m not asking you to join in on Mr. Obama’s mission. All I’m saying is to step out of the matrix and objectively take a close look at healthcare reform. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Contact your congressman. Your voice makes a difference.
The devil in the dark is real and will not go away easily. We must join together and come up with a solution so that our children and grandchildren will benefit from the solid reform we started now.
