One BIG mistake people make after being in a car accident.
Many Californians are under the illusion that they have enough auto insurance coverage. For example, if someone hits your vehicle and they do not have insurance, your insurance will not pay for the damage unless you have UM or uninsured insurance coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage in most cases will protect you however, if there are no witnesses or a police report, your insurance company may question the validity of your accident and may not pay. Therefor, if you are hit by another vehicle be sure to pull out you phone camera and get statements from witnesses if possible. Filing a police report, taking pictures of the vehicles, and getting a video statement from the other driver help as well.
